Cheltenham or 'Cheltenham Spa - Festival town of England' is not only the centre for the Cotswolds, its home to some of the best recognised and most prestigious festivals around the world. The Spa town is also one of the largest in Gloucestershire. The town celebrates the arts and sciences in full force from the beginning of May through to mid October.

Visit Cheltenham in October, the town is buzzing and you will see famous and familiar faces appearing at The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival from 4 - 13 October when the Regency town once again hosts hundreds of events during the famous 10-day literary celebration. Join in with the many politicians, sportsmen and women, broadcasters, journalists and celebrities who attend the festival and talk, discuss, debate and tell stories about their lives and achievements. Some of the world's top authors perform readings and storytelling and of course a few books are signed too. With writing workshops, education projects and live literature the Cheltenham Literature Festival is an event in Cheltenham for all ages to enjoy.

Later on in the month the new horse racing season begins with The Showcase on 18th & 19th October as the leading trainers and jockeys return to the home of Jump racing. This is a great chance to combine brilliant sport with the opportunity to find out more about how racing operates.

If you are visiting Cheltenham and need somewhere to stay, then Portland Apartments are the perfect solution, offering luxurious serviced accommodation within a landmark Grade 2 listed building, located in the cultural and historic Regency Cheltenham Spa at the heart of the picturesque Cotswolds. The lavishly appointed apartments present a refreshing alternative to a 5 star central hotel in Cheltenham, offering a home-from-home for business or pleasure.
